highlander v6, interference engine or not?

sorry if this is in the wrong spot, i didn't see a section for highlanders. anyways, my dad has a 2003 highlander with the V6. i know my truck and engine (89 4runner & 22re) like the back of my hand, but i don't know squat about his. anyways, he mentioned having to get the timing belt changed, and i asked him if it was an interference engine or not. he didn't know. i explained the difference and told him it's not "as" important to follow the schedule if it's NOT an interference engine (still important, but not urgent).

1st question, does his have the same 3.4L that the 3rd gen 4runners have or is it a different v6?
2nd, is it an interference engine?

thanks.

a quick search in google generally shows:
A. not the same v6 (3.4) as the 4runner/tacoma family.
Your v6 is the same one used in toyota's passenger cars (solara/avalon/camry/etc...)

B. the 3.0l is non-interference, the 3.3l is interference.
(there was an overlap in years in 2003 with those two v6's)

which one does your dad have?

Happy Thanksgiving!
