Well , I would be hard pressed to remember when I bought a Toyota Without at least 100k In the last two years I have bought a 1991 FJ80 Landcruiser with 203k and sold it with 234k ouch 10 mpg. Then I bought a 1995 4runner with 170k sold it with 197k then I fell down and bought a 1999 Rav4 with 109k and three months later sold it to my son and bought a BLACK 1999 4Runner SR5 Sport Edition (highlander) with 110k I didn't even test drive it, I figured for $8500.00 I better grab it fast, it had the belt changed at 92k... this is just the last 2 years or so, I can not even think of any vehicle that would be better than TOYOTA, 99% of what I have driven for the last 24 years is TOYOTA

99, bought it with 112k confidently. up to 123k now. no problems. just take care of it and itll last forever.

and if youre buying one with high milage, just make sure the history is straight, and youre good to go. many examples here of people with high milage yotas lasting forever.

There is a reason why Toyota is projected to take over as the largest automaker in the world next year.
......and it isn't because the vehicles fall apart.

Ok, I'm bad I didn't read all the posts on this thread and I may be redundant, but here I go. I bought my '96 4Runner with 139K miles. There were no maintance records, but I inspected it on the lot and test drove it. The 5VZ-FE is a strong motor if properly maintaned. Check for fluid condition, any leaks (including the w/pump), open the cap and pull the oil dipstick to check for signs of sludge. Possibly the two most important visual inspection items would be signs of sludge in the motor and metal flakes in the trans fluid. Test drove it make sure it shifts properly and has adequete power. I now have 184,300 miles on my 4Runner, through a charger on it at 150K. Outside of a bad coilpack and a few slightly seeping transfer case to driveshaft seals, theres been nothing wrong with it. I've seen Tacos and 4Runners with the 5VZ come through the shop with 200K to 400K miles on them and still running strong. If taken care of the car will disintegrate around the motor... LMAO
