HIDs and Piaas
I got my 7500K HID Plus kit installed this past Friday. Wow!! I love these things. The side to side illumination is awesome and the illumination right in front of the 4Runner is really good. Much better than the Philips bulbs I was using. I will take some pics this week or next and get them on here. Man, they look awesome! I followed my girlfriend home the other night and she said that they were really bright, but not really blinding. So far, only one flash. It was on a two lane road by my old apartment and I was flashed by a rice rocket that wasn't more than an inch off the ground.
I went into my local stereo shop the other day to have an amp checked out and lowe and behold, there were the Piaa 1000X driving lights I had planned on ordering. Having no patience and since I was moving this weekend and wouldn't be able to put them in myself, I figured I would let them do it. Big mistake. I got started talking to the owner and I heard them fire up the Dremel and my heart skipped a beat but hey, I told them what to do and got down and showed them. I wanted it like this:

Installed in the lower valence but maintaining the stock plastic cross bar in the middle of the valence. Well I go back out about half an hour later and damn, they cut the whole thing out. It looks ok, but I am a perfectionist and it isn't right. The left and right side of the valence now have a chunk taken out of them where that plastic cross bar used to run. So, I called the dealer and it is going to be about $220 for a new lower valence panel. Ouch!! I guess I learned my lesson the hard way. I saw a valence panel on ebay a week or so ago for about $50, but of course it's gone now. Oh well, I will get it fixed and get all my stuff painted (eventually) that I wanted to and get ya'll some pics. Later.
Whew, what a post. Sorry it's so long.

Matt,
Sorry to hear about your lower valance, that sucks. Good luck on the new valance, sorry my pic is not so clear. You could try to get the shop to pay for 1/2 of the new valance, you did tell them to do exactly the way you wanted, but they didn't follow your instructions, so I think they should pay for the damage, or at least 1/2.
Tony.
