HID kit for second gens?
#3
my cousin has hid's that he retrofitted into his 90 4runner. he has the hid's from the lexus LS430
first you need to get sealed beam conversions.
next you need to get a good set of HIDs, H4 type bulb. or you can rebase them very easily.
you will loose your high beam function cause most companies only sell single beam hid systems.
my cousin also made a custom glare dome for the hid bulbs so that the light shines correctly on the road.
philips or hella/osram hid components should only cost you $300 or so if you're getting a used or oem set from a lexus or bmw, etc...
brand new HID kits are harder to get since laws have been passed prohibiting the import or manufacturing of HID stuff in the US, I've still been able to get philips parts since several shipments have been making it through customs.

if you use a 6054 sealed beam lamp, i would say wait for a while. i know of a guy that is currently developing a DUAL HID kit for the 6045 lamp. meaning, replace the entire thing with a new lamp assembly and you get HID high and low beams. i can keep you guys posted on the status...if i remember to.
