refilled reservoir after it ran dry, but dash washer light won't turn off. tried pulling fuse no help.
any suggestions much appreciated.

wait...3Gs have washer fluid lights? Never noticed that one, even having an empty res. for days...

 

make sure the little float isn't stuck

 

Do you have two reserviors. One in front and one in the back? Maybee the one in the rear is out of fluid. Just a guess.

 

U sure it's the washer light? I wasn't aware that 3Gen's had this feature.....

 

I could have sworn I saw it mentioned in my 97 manual..and it tripped me out. Maybe I read it elsewhere?

Either way, I've been without fluid for 2 months and there's no light.

2000 SR5 Canadian vehicle with no rear reservior.
But where is the float (I assume it's down the intake) and how to get at it...undo the jug and give it a shake

 

Fixed mine last weekend. The float is in the washer tank right behind the passenger headlight, crawl under and look up at the bottom of the tank. It is right next to the two washer pumps; One for front and second for the back.
The sensor looks like a rubber plug with wire coming out of it. I had to remove it and free up the float. Be careful reinstalling it, not to tear or poke a hole in it. I used a fairly large flat head screw driver to work it back in. Put it in the hole as far as you can and use the screw driver to work the rest in.

I didn't need to replace anything. But I haven't used any fluid so I really don't know if it even works now. But the light is out.

 

I just fixed this myself for my 2000 4runner.

used a 10mm wrench and flat screwdriver and a tub.
removed the housing. need to use socket wrench and also unclip it.
the white arrow in the picture below points to where the sensor is located under the housing.
placed tub undernear the sensor (which is located at the bottom of the tank) to catch the fluid once i was going to pull the sensor out.

pulled the sensor+rubber out, removed the rubber off the the sensor, and played with the floater on it a few times.

After moving the floater up and down can change the sensor between the off and on position. Instead of using a multimeter, I turned the car on, manually toggled the floater, and the light went off.

I placed the rubber by itself back into the hole, then pushed the sensor through the rubber. poured the tub with the fluid back into the tank, checked for leaks, then just tightened the bolts on the housing and was done.

I Havent run out of washer fluid yet, so maybe I broke the sensor, but at least the light went off.

 

forgot to mention, while it worked for a day or so, the same problem came up.

next time, i just super-glued the sensor to the "float up"/OFF position.
