So, rebuilt the tranny, I just can't get it back in..
A friend and I have spent a few hours pushing and lifting and turning the fst but I cant even feel the splines making contact..??..
Confused.. Am I missing something?

Please!! I'm still trying to shove the thing in but no chance, pretty tough to do by myself... yes the transfer is off.. so that make it a little lighter...
But seriously how am I going to get to Puyallup tomorrow w/o my truck?



Maybe I'm just inept, but at least somebody could pipe up and tell me, eh...

 

turn the front of the motor to help get the splines in, its a bitch of a job, it took me some time the 1st time, if you can get a couple of bolts in while its still hanging apart, start them and it should go together, and remember if it were easy, everyone would be doing it lol

 

Did you use an alignment tool to align the clutch disk with the pilot bushing/bearing? If not, it will be very difficult to get everything to mate up correctly. There could be other possible issues, but that is the most common.

 

If you have a floor jack you can use it as a poor man's transmission jack. Just put a big sheet of plywood on the saddle and lift it into place. Then coax it into place by hand. It would be easier with at least one buddy. Be careful under there.
