help my friend make the right choice

my friend is in the market for a new car, and i'm trying to convince him to get a tacoma. at first he was set on a ford f150, then a gmc sierra, then an expedition, and an accord and kia sportage somewhere along the way too. i know, he's all over the place. but recently, he's considering a tacoma. he's had a toyota 4x4 truck before, but totalled it a few years ago. since then he's been driving a tricked out mid 90s (i forget the year) mustang (it's nice, but he's recognized it's a "money pit") and a fairly new honda civic. but he wants to sell both and get something new.

some pertinent information to the decision:
1) this is going to be his daily driver
2) he has a family, so he needs a family friendly vehicle. they're expecting a baby in a year or so.
3) he doesn't plan on going offroad very much (but i just know he will if he gets a tacoma )
4) he's considering a mild lift, but probably won't

he's not too into SUVs or the tundras, but he likes the DOUBLE CAB tacoma.

so i've told him the toyota is the only way to go, but maybe it'll help if some others chime in too, come on guys, let him know what's up

1)The tacoma is availible in a 4 door model or extented cab
2)tacos are availible in the v6 or 4 cylinder models and both are geared properly for towing and reliablity. the toyota engines last well over 200k miles if serviced properly.
Also the tacoma has the highest ground clearance in its class stock! and fits up to 32 inch tires without problems.
Hope this helps.

well. i have a taco and love it.
it just so happens that i was up at the toyota dealer the other day and saw a new (2002 i think) black, 4x4, double cab taco. i didnt really like double cabs before, but it looked really nice. i was suprised. definatly would be a good choice

well, why doesn't he get a subaru baha? those are rugged right? also very good offroad, he won't even need a lift for it and he will be able to do anything that any toyota could do.

... i really hate those things. even more than H2's.

here is how i see it...a "taco" isnt a good deal because if you dont haul stuff all the time...you waste half your truck...when it rains or snows your down to the cabin only.....i would get a suv or car if i had a family...you can tow stuff in the back with no problems from the weather...just think about that...i wanted a truck but i thought about it and an SUV is the best of both worlds...big truck with a top...

maybe not a baja, but i would love to drive a 2004 impreza STi.

300bhp/300 lb-ft 2.5 I4 intercooled turbo with manual water squirt for the FMIC and up to 20/80 AWD diff control. i just don't want the ugly red baron spoiler and i'm not sold on 17" gold BBS's.

on a non truck related note, is it me or is yota's recent line of cars (as in non-trucks) extremely boring during a time when the JDM renaissance is blowing up? (celicas make me yawn and lord knows that altezza's are 3.0L civics )
