My last to vehicles before my truck were cars with sporty suspensions. So I'm used to a harsh ride. I bought my truck recently to be a daily driver. But the ride is starting to drive me nuts. Everything else about the truck is exactly what I need and want. (94 4x4 pickup) Well almost exactly, the 3.slow could be peppier and it would be nice to rebuild the tranny so i don't have to fight with the syncro's... but I digress

In my car I feel every detail of the road, when I go over a bump I feel it but than it's over.
In the truck the ride is nice and soft but the second I go over a bump in the road the truck is sent into convultions. When I maneuver the truck while parking it quivers around like a fat chick on a sugar high.
I realise this is because the rear end is over sprung so the rear won't bottom out when there is a load in the truck bed. Trouble is I have a empty bed 99% of the time.

Or am I wrong, and it's simply the 11 year old shocks showing their age? (actualy don't know if they are original)

I have not gone off-road with this truck yet, but I do plan on trying it out this spring. So If a "fix" means a mild lift, than I wouldn't mind doing it.

I just want to be able to drive to work without spraying coffee over the shifter boot, and still leave the truck capable of driving with a load once in a blue moon and go off-roading.

The rear end does sag a little IMHO 1/2" lower than the front, wouldn't mind curing that while I'm at it.

 

It's your shocks. Trust me. Get some new shocks and make sure they are gas charged. If they retail for less than $30 each they probably arn't worth buying. I am a big fan of Sky Jackers which sell for $50 each. They are off road shocks so they have a steep progresion ramp (this reduces body roll in the corners dramatically and helps reduce bottoming out when driving off road).

 

Thanks miles. I installed some pro comp es3000's. Big difference. I can actually feel the road again. And there is no bucking and heaving when driving over bumps. The installl had to have been one of the easiest. Gotta love working on trucks.

 

I have pro comps all the way around and they are quite fine for the DD stuff and hold up to the the occ. off road follies....

 

i was going to say... soft ride! the main complaint of people that are new joining this ride is how can i make my truck feel more squishy and plush..... not i want it harsher
