Help with Install of Auxiliary Driving Lights

I am thinking about buying some Piaa auxiliary driving lights and wanted to get some suggestions from ya'll on how to wire them up. I want to mount them in the grill to the left and right of the license plate holder. I would like to wire them so that they will come on when I turn on the high beams, but also have a switch mounted inside so that I can turn them on when the low beams are on. Any ideas on how to do it or locations of wires that I could tap into?
Also, several people have used a switch from Toyota instead of the one supplied with their lights. Will these switches work with any auxiliary lights, and if so, anyone got the part number? Here's the lights I'm thinking about

Thanks guys. Later.

Matt

Matt, the wiring info and the part # for the switch is on my home page.
Both in the mods section, and on my Tips & Tricks pages.

The Toyota switch is by far better than the one that comes from Piaa, or Hella for that matter.

Vince & I just did a Piaa fog lamp install on his rig a few weeks back.
We did not tap into the headlamps though, we wired it up as per instructions in my picture on my site.

I like it that way as you have more control over your lamps.

Corey... won't he need a 3 way switch to give him the control he is looking for (i.e. off, on with low beams, OR (not and) on with high beams)?

You will need a 3 way switch to have the lights work the way you want them to. Most of the factory switches people are using (including the ones I use) are only 2 way, so they won't give you the control you are looking for.

You will need to tap into your hi-beam line and your low beam line for power to the switch. With a 3 way switch, one position will be off, one position will be hooked to your low beams and will turn them on if your low beams are on, and the third position will be hooked into your high beams, so you lights will come on with your high beams.

I didn't wire mine the way you are talking about... mine are completely dependant on the switch so the will work independantly of the lights, so I can't help you locate the wires. You can get a wiring diagram of your rig though that lays out all the wires, their colors, and where they are located... I got mine at the car stereo install garage at a local Circuit City.

Yes he would need a different switch. That was why I was explaining the way we did Vince's, and the way I have done all of mine.
His way would be cool too, but a heck of a lot of extra work.

I just like the simplicity of having total control over the lamps anytime you need them.
Less of a wiring nighmare too.
