Question HELP: How do I access the CV nut on my 3rd gen?

I am in the middle of my front diff swap, and I can't seem to gain access to the CV nut. Do I pry off that black cover? If so, how should I pry it off?

I have been banging on that thing with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver trying to pry it off, but I can't seem to get it.

Can someone point me to a 3rd gen CV replacement write-up?

Thanks!
