Exclamation Help - Engine won't turn over

Got in the truck to go to work and the engine just kept cranking and cranking and would not turn over. It's not the battery, and I don't think its the starter since it sounds like it is trying to crank it just fine. If I try to crank the engine for about 5 seconds, the cranking automatically stops. Anyone know what could be my problem?

Dave

You need to check for spark and fuel.

Is the EFI fuse blown?
Check that first....its a garanteed no start if it is.

What you posted doesnt' make sense. How could you be cranking and cranking but the engine isnt' turning over. If your engine is seized your starter is going to make some horrific noises. I think what you mean is it turns over but will not fire maybe? Please specify.

Well I guess your right, it turns and turns (cranks) but does not fire. It finally started started yesterday and seems to be starting fine ever since. I don't know what happened. It was very humid and there was alot of condensation on the everything, so I am wondering if there wasn't some moisture in the fuel line, throttle bottle, etc.

Mine has been having the exact same problem, but then I will let it sit a couple of seconds and it will fire right up. It has done this to me twice in the last 3 months. I'm not really sure what it could be either.....

I'm beginning to think its a fuel delivery issue. Possibly the fuel pump is starting to go bad.

Purge the valve on the fuel rail and see if anything comes out.
Do you hear the fuel pumpspin for a sec before trying to start it?

I noticed this with my truck too. Someone told me that if you turn the key to "on"(without starting the truck) and let it sit for a minute, is starts up better. Worked for me
