Help with DRL Disable mod...

I wanted to disable my DRLs, so I red the tech article on YotaTech.

BUT I cant seem to find this module right here.

"Now those instructions are ok, but was vague for me.... But ok... time to look for
the Main Relay... under the dash on my 2001 Drivers side above the gas pedal
there was a box that looked like this: "

I looked there but couldnt find it. Is it in a different spot int he 2000?

For a 2000, the DRL box is in the engine bay on the DS fender wall right beside the battery. It's a small black box with vented slits all over it. Unplug that box and no more DRL.

On my 99 Tacoma, it's also in the engine bay beside the battery. I installed a kill switch on mine so that I have the option of turning them on or off from inside the cab. I usually keep them on but if I go out hunting, I turn them off. Its quite an easy mod if your DRL box is located in the engine bay. Its just a matter of wiring up a rocker switch to the negative (I think) side. I used an OEM rocker I bought from the dealer though any switch will work. On my switch (which had three prongs and an amber light) the prong opposite the light (top or bottom depending on which way you have the switch oriented) gets grounded. Then is just a matter of running a piece of wire with male or female disconnects back to the DRL harness. I don't like cutting factory wires so what I did was I unplugged the DRLs, and then connected male and female disconnect terminals to the factory plugs thereby eliminating the need to cut the factory wires. Its an extra step, I Know but like I said, I hate cutting factory wires up. So that takes care of connecting a switch to one side of the terminal. For the other side (you will notice that there are two wires going to the DRL plugs), I just took a short piece of wire with two disconnects and basically made a jumper and connected the other wire back up. I wrapped everything with split flex tubing and now its looks very clean and works.

Yep, just unplug it. Headlights will work like normal (minus DRL's). The writeup in the tech section is just for the 01-02's.

That's the box. I just unplugged it over a year ago and have had no issues with my headlights (other that the DRL don't work ). You can tie up the lose connector if you wish.

Correct. That's the connector to unplug. Everything works as normal, just no DRL's.

I want to thank you all as well I have an 00 runner and hate my drl's. I live in the suburbs in southern California and the only close off roading is illegal so being able to turn your lights off is a must. Thanks so much.
