Help with conversion

Hey i own a 1990 Australia spec toyota hilux. It is rigid front axle and runs the 3L motor (2.8 deisel motor = gutless) I have just purchased a 2000 model hilux wreck with a 3 litre turbo deisel (1KZ-TE) motor in it. It is pretty much the whole wreck, motor, gearbox, computer, loom etc. etc. What im asking is if anybody has done this conversion or something similar and knows what to look out for. If there are any probs you faced or anything in general i should look out for. Any technical advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Man, I would kill someone to have a 3L in my pickup. Someone I didn't like, at least. Will the 1KZ-TE even bolt up to your tranny? It would be pretty sweet, but it may be too much of a pain.

Congratulation!!! The 1kz-te should be pretty much a direct swap given that you have all the wiring harness, ecu. The only thing you need to do is to relocate the engine mount. I have access to a 1kz-te too, stilll debating about the swap. Keep us update with your swap, I would like to know about the performance and gas mileage. I just driven a land cruiser prado with auto tranny the 1kz-te and it is amazing. It is so quite and virtually no lag, it should be on par with my 3.4 v6!!!

Wow luv!
You are lucky. My 4Runner has the 1KZT engine and it's great!
It has a lot of torque from low rpm's and drinks (In my case) about 10-11 liters/100km.

I don't know about the swap, but if you do it I'm sure you won't regret.
