Greetings,
I grew up in FLA, been in a few Hurricanes (Not fun), besides the roof NEVER sealing correctly again, the inside will never SMELL the same. It will always be musty and stinky, Loose the truck and get a new one.

I agree with everyone.....let the insurance company have that mess and get a new one.
You will kick yourself later if you try to fix it.....trust me!

My sister flipped the ML a few weeks back. There were only two body panels that didn't have any damage. She walked away ... correction .. she crawled out of the sun roof without a scrath. But the truck had about $15K in damages. The repair shop said at least 2-3 months to complete repairs. The insurance still didn't total it. But the truck is pretty much never going to be the same. brand new benz, and its not worth more then a kia now.

I'll give you my wheel and tires if you promise to give me the wheel and tires off of the new truck!

Get rid of it! If there is water damage on the interior, then you run the risk of having electrical problems.

In case you're not keeping score, the general consensus seems to be to TAKE THE NEW ONE!

New truck definitely. It'll be on the carfax report if you ever want to sell, and make it harder for you down the road. You'll end up losing more money than what your rims are worth. Everyone is right, get rid of it. If you can hold out for the 2005 model, you can get the V8 with a little more horsepower. Or get the 05 V6, which should have more of the kinks worked out of it.

Goodbye 4Runner, hello opportunity.
Speaking as somebody that kept the remains of a wrecked vehicle before, don't do it. You'll be spending $440 a month for a wreck whether or not it is "repaired". Anybody that does a Carfax or similar report on it should you try and sell it will see that is suffered major damage in the past and reselling it will be a hassle.
A cheap set of rims and tires are always easy to come by and I suspect even more so now. The junkyards down there may have more stuff coming in than they care to handle and might be setting prices just to move stuff out.
Let Charley be the wind that blows you in a new direction.

We took Charlie on the chin as well (Daytona Beach). Nothing like I have ever experience in my life - the destruction was heart breaking. We lost power and cable just as it was on the Volusia county line. Did not get it back for 4 days. We lost a huge oak that just scratched the side of the house. The back yard will never look the same. Sorry to hear about your rig. I don't think it would ever be up to your standards if you fix it. May want to hold out for an 05?

man that sucks, that was a good lookin truck, i'm diggin' the wheels....I would probably look into the 04's if possible, they currently have rebates and I'm sure you can talk the salesman down some....maybe even make a couple bucks....my father wrecked his 4 tundra, totalled it, bought the same truck and made 1000 bucks because of the rebates...

My mother had a similar thing happen to her tahoe cept she was driving down the road, when the cop got there he said "Tree fell on your truck huh?", my mother said "No, I was moving this tree down the road and I ran out of gas asshole"....hehe

Lol...ever see "Blue Collar Comedy Tour"? Remember Bill Enguval talking about how he screwed up a "here's your sign" deal?

He apparently came out of the mall one day, to the parking lot and on his way to his car, he saw an individual with a wire coat, jimming his car. So Bill asks him, "Locked out of your car, I see?" The other individual replies, "Nope, just washed my car and now I'm trying to hang it up to dry"...here's your sign....hehe.

Thank You Thank You

Thank you all so much for your help. Funny thing is that my girlfriend said that I should just get a RX-8, and I gave the most unpleasent look and let her know, "Then what would I be able to talk to Yotatech about?"

Thank you for all the help and offers. Man it's really good to know that we can all count on each other in time need. If anyone on here ever needs anything, please let know.

I going to Toyota 1st thing in the morning to verify with the sales manager that my same payment can be achieved. I have friends that work at this dealership so I know they'll take care of it.

As for the rims. I had a friend of mine at toyota hook me up with a beat up set of factory SR5 rims with used tires for free. Well at the cost mounting them on the side.

I'm going to let the insurance adjuster know tomorrow that i defenitely want it totaled.

Not only would the totaled rig not seal completely and physically not be in good condition, but it wont feel the same. I had a 85 4Runner stolen, got it back and never felt the same and I eventually sold it. Different situation i know, but its a weird feeling.

So the insurance gave me current market value plus tax for my totaled runner, which works out to put $2200 in my pocket. Not bad for a vehicle that was exactly one year old.

So i went today and bought and got a brand new 2004, V6 SR5 just like i had. This one also has the tire pressure warning system and the leather steering wheel. Man, i love that steering wheel. And let me just say, what a difference between the 2003 and the 2004. The squeaks and rattles, are gone. And it might be jsut me or is the 2004 50 times smoother than the 2003. They just keep getting better. By the way I got the Navy blue one, awesome color.

Here a question maybe one of you might be able to help me with. If I put the new 20" rims on the new runner with the tire pressure system, will it completely throw off the tire gauge?

I'll get pics as soon as there is light out?

Thanks guys.
