Help

ok guys i need some help..today when i was driving i stopped at a light..and my 1990 4runner started to idle really really ruff..so the light turned greeen so i took off and it still was kinda ruff until i got some speed up and then it stopped..so i guess it is kinda sputtering or something..im not sure what to call it. but it only seems to do it when i come to a complete stop and then take off again..any thoughts on to what this would be?

Sounds exactly like what happened to me last year.
I was diving my youngest son home and at a light.
I took off and all of a sudden it started to sound like poop and run rough.

But the faster I went, it did not stop like it did for you.
What it turned out to be was one of my plug wires got fried on the EGR valve.

That thing is like a stove and the wire burned and was arcing and shorting, confusing the engine.

The next morning in the dark I found it. I lifted my hood and started the engine and could see the spark flying back & forth.
I put electric tape on it and that fixed it, but it soon burned through within a block of my home.

Went to the dealer and got all new wires and new plugs while I was there.

I had just put on new wires not to long before this happened.
They did not have a single wire in stock by itself, so I had to ante up for the whole set.

They also put on a wire separator to keep the plugs wires away from the EGR valve.
Mine was missing, thus letting the wire get toasted.

Whas that your problem? If your wires are fine, you may just have really backed up injectors or something. A trip to Jiffy Lube and their injection cleaning system did my old car just right. I was having the same symptoms you are having on your truck, but I let it go for longer and it got worse (it was not the best car, and I don't drive much, so I was not too worried about it).

Shortly after I got that fixed I did end up trading the car in for my new 4Runner. One thing is for sure, it was running a heck of a lot better when it left Jiffy Lube. I was very surprised they didn't mess anything up. I didn't mind taking my old car there, but honestly doubt that I will take my 4Runner there.

Like I said, I took my old car to Jiffy Lube and let them do their injection cleaning system. I think it was about $50. Click here to visit their website to learn about the service.

Try doing a tune up. Replace plug/wires. pcv valve cap & rotor! and check the idle speed.

What do I do with my parts?
Well for awhile I had the chrome/rubber wheel well trim under the couch, but I ended up shipping it to Joey (UKmeyers) on the forum here.

My front bumper is in my sons closet, and other parts are crammed here and there around the place

And my Smittybilt nerfs are in my sons room to.

When it comes time to put on a custom bumper for the rear, I better have a Toy yard sale

I gave the tail light guards away

The went for about $250 to $300 new, and since I received them for free, I gave them away for free also to a memeber up in Ontario for the price of shipping.

What do you guys think about putting on a used SuperCharger? What's their life span generally? My father has a 1999 4Runner with the Super Charger. He keeps talkinga bout getting a 2003 soon. I am thinking that if it's worth it, I may go get his Super Charger from him and put it on my truck. I am sure that if I paid installation charges to have his stock stuff put back on that it would be easy to do.

What do you all think? I believe he has like 80k or 90k miles on his 99. All are highway miles and he does not drive it hard really.
