To start off... I have a 1998 4runner limited. I started my brake upgrade to tundra calibers and rotors. I started my brakes earlier today and the driver side was easy...
Then I started on the passenger side and it was a pain is the F*#^ a**. Well finally got the caliber off and the top screw is..........ya my luck....IT IS STRIPPED!!!!! The treads inside the part that the caliber bolts to looks like it may be damaged also!

I need help! What if anything can I do..????

 

time for a trip to a machine shop or the salvage yard

 

What would a machine shop do?

 

Tap and rethread it.

Correct me if im wrong but you need a bigger bolt after you tap and rethread it right?

 

Not really totally, you could possibly salvage the threads if it isnt to bad.

Helicoil would do the trick too..

Its a threaded insert you use, you would probably have to chnage the bolt size but they work well..

if you dont know you should probably take it to a machine shop.
