Hey guys
I have a 99 4runner sr5 sport v6....I've had this miss ...well when I bought it the cat was gutted an was giving a system too lean code well I put a new cat on there an change the o2 sensor an it fix the light ...now still have the miss but now it spits an sputter alot...an sometimes want stay running the rpm go to low an dies...so I was messing are with the wires an the tps sensor come to.find out the wiring harness had a bad short in the wires so I ordered a new tps sensor an the wiring harness but all that on new ..but it still spits an sputters ...if I leave it unplugged it runs great for like 2 or 3 days then starts act like it having trouble getting gas or something....so I'm at a loss on what to do next....but In the meantime I changed the plugs an wires took off the manifold an changed the gaskets an resiconed with that black stuff ...some ones said I could had a leak for it to be showing the system to lean code ....but I'm a girl so I don't know all the technical words for something's...lol but just need help or if u have any other clue how to fix the tps or if it would hurt it to just leave it unplugged?? Thanks in advance lol

So no codes now, or still lean, or a different code?
Does it run poorly all the time, when it warms up, or only when it's cold?
Have you (very carefully with MAF cleaner and no touching- the harder to find sensors moreso that the bulb that is easy to see) cleaned the MAF sensor?
Have you cleaned the IAC?
Are your vacuum lines in good shape?
Is your pcv in good shape (ball rattles when shaken)?
Looking at cheap maintenance things that are often overlooked since it sounds like the truck is newer to you.
TPS isn't repairable, just replaceable. Should be able to test using a multimeter, but I don't have the procedure or specs for you. If it does test bad the sensor itself is not terribly expensive through a company such as McGeorge Toyota Parts and others.
(guys don't always know the technical words either and that's okay)

thanks for getting back to me !!!
when I have the tps sensor plugged In no codes at all but u cant hardly drive it ....it sputters so bad ...but unplugged it drives great for the first couple days then after it acts like it bogs down like it having to getting gas hardly no power ...but when it sets while I'm at work an when I go to leave when I start it it dies if I dont keep my foot on gas petal an rive it up .... then after a few mins of that it's fine..so I've been plugging it in like ever 3 days for a few mins an drive it horribly around my neighborhood for like a few mins then I unplugged it an its run great the next three days....sounds weird I know lol...its runs poorly all the time if I have it plugged in...an I have cleaned the maf sensor...not sure what the iac is lol...I've replaced 2 of the vacuum hose that looked bad...an not sure what's PCv is lol....we did a smoke test on it with carb cleaner I thinks what he used never sucked none of it in so I don't think there an kinda of leak..
I have replaced the tps twice with just off brands ...someone told me it might be the issue that I need to get an original Toyota part..what do you think does it matter ??....but when its unpluged the only code now is just the tps code just cause its unpluged...then I've been told that I need to calibrate the tps sensor...yes I'm at a loss most of the stuff we have done our selves me an boyfriend'
but were at a loss of what to do next??...thanks for the help!!
not sure if it matters or not but I forgot to tell ya is a 5 speed with 4wheel drive...lol she my baby I love it so much just trying to get it fixed without having to take it to a shop an they charge me 100 dollar an hour just to look at it
