A friend of mine bought them a while back and from what I remember, they were quite impressive over stock. They had a much more forceful tone.

UKMyers has them I think. He might have done a write up. Do a search for air horns, I remember seeing a pic. He's deployed now, so you won't get him through the boards I don't think.

I've had good luck with my set of airhorns.

My write-up here:

http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/jnburtman/AirHorns.html

I also have a wav file on there that lets you LISTEN to the stock horns compared to the new AIRHORNS.

I had them (air horns) in the past, and they are awesome. They are insurance too. Ever had anyone try and merge into you on the freeway? Our "beep" horns just wont cut it. But, I garantee they will hear the air horn blast. These things could even save your life!

They rock. They will be one of my next mods.

Joey has a write-up in Tech in the Electrical section.

His are Fiamm's, and there is a sound byte in there too.

I can indirectly answer your question. On my Tacoma I had an upgraded elec horn (to sound more like a Ford horn) and the box stated 129db. That's bull. It wasnt that loud.

Comparing elec horns to air horns is like comparing apples to oranges. They are just completely different. Dont skimp like I did and get elec. Get air first, save yourself the hassle.

WARNING: If you are "horn happy" - be prepared for flying fingers and angry people. They seem to get really really pissed when you blast an air horn at them. Of course, that depends on demagraphics (NJ horn honking is normal, in AZ its "forbidden") - you know, that kinda thing.

This is what I ended up doing:

http://www.midiwall.com/4Runner/airhorns.html

The install has changed a little bit since then.. That tank only gave me about 5-7 seconds of a blast which is usually enough, but MORE IS BETTER! So I have a new tank that's about 4 times the size ready to go in. I also relo'd the air pressure gauge to the interior - just 'cause.
