Heads up to anyone with Lightforce Lights...

I recently got a pair of 170's, and mounted them all up, my friend also has a pair... but they were different... in my package it had on top a bag that has a label that said you must install this or it will void the warranty... what was it? It was a breather kit... you ran tubing that went from the back of the lights to a higher point and the end was a filter... so I was confused... did they nix that feature? was my friends newer or mine?

So I emailed.. this is what I got...

Adam,
Your lights with the breather kit is the most recent development in our driving lights, if your friends lights have a sealed hole in the back of the light housing it can be retrofitted with a breather kit with little effort. To check if his lights have a sealed hole take a thin wire and insert into the hole to see if it can pass all the way into the housing or stops about 3/8 of an inch into the housing. We can supply your friend with a breather kit if he would like one for shipping cost only.

Thank you

It seems that the breather kit is to allow pressure to be equalized in the event that the lights become submerged in water, so if you have a pair of the non-breather type lights up on the roof or above the line of a deep water crossing, they will probably be fine. If you have them mounted on a bumper, the kit is probably a good idea.

Here is a write up on retro fitting the kit on a pair of 240's
