Heater panel lights won't work, alarm won't chirp either
I just picked up my 96 4Runner Limited yesterday and I have some issues I can't figure out. Had a new engine installed and now the lights on heater panel won't work and the alarm won't chirp.
I'm positive the alarm chirp worked prior to installation, confident the headlights did too but not sure on the heat panel lights.
Before anybody says "take it back and have them fix it" I've already called and they'll look at it but until I get it back to them (after Christmas) I would like to see if there's something I can look for or fix myself so I don't go without my ride.
Thanks in advance, this is my 1st 4Runner.
Jason
Oh yeah, anybody have an extra knob for the heater controls?

After reading some other threads I'm guessing that some other bulbs may be out. Does anybody know anything about the factory alarms???
There is also a nasty smell coming from the blower motor area, can somebody give me some tips on what to disassemble to see if something is in there?
Update:
Turns out the piezo buzzer was bad, #74 bulb in climate control was "iffy" and needed replacing. Everything works fine now, just need to find out where the freaking smell is coming from now.
