Since I speak drunk-ese, I think I can answer this.

I don't think you can put a 16V DOHC head on a an engine designed for a SINGLE cam. If you want to improve the 22RET, look into performance cams designed for the turbo applications. Also, over-sized valves, a free-flow intake and exhaust would good options too.

Hope this helps.

I have heard the 20R head can be put on the 22R block. This raises compression quite alot. But this was a duel weber carb'd non-turbo engine.

i dont have any specific advise.

wow this thead is from 5 years ago. luckily I have come along way with my knowledge of toyotas. With the last turbo 4runner I had (the one this thread was about) I spent just over $4000 on building the engine, upgrading the turbo, built my own turbo header, used a ford f-350 front mount intercooler. Did everything myself, arp head studs ( best $100+ ever spent) , greedy boost cut controller. By the time I was done I should have just bought a 2JZGTE and done the swap.

Your head with the crack, is done, but just explore your options before you throw a ton of money into the engine, I was satisfied with my 300+ hp 22rtec, but for the money could have had something much better like a 450-500hp 2JZ and a little more depedability.
