Has anyone put herculiner on wheels

I am thinking of Herculining my bumpers and rocker panels thanks to 96 Runner and Northfacer. I was also thinking about painting the inside of my weels black too and I might as well use what left of the herc- Anyone think the break dust would affect badly? Also how well does the herculiner hold up?

Thanks

Pedro

I would worry about the ability (or lack of) to balance them

I've had mine on for about 8 months now...on the rocker panels and it seems to be holding up very well. The real test will be the Indiana winter so we'll see. It has taken plenty of abuse from rocks and mud thus far. I'm not sure about the wheels, my concern would be how well it would hold to the wheel. It might take some real work cleaning the inside of the wheel and then grinding it down so it'll have something to hold to. Do you just have stock rims?

I'm sure someone will chime in with a little more knowledge though. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thats a good point. It prob would be hard to balance if i over coated one side on accident.. I think I'll just get them powder coated or something. I do have the stock rims. I was thinking of just painting the sides of each spoke and leaving the fronts alone.

Is there a need for it or just looks? I can't see what it would help, unless you are running steelies and they are rusting from scrapes (stretching...).

there wont be any mixing of hootus and herculiner... That would really suck..How that guy did that is beyond me. The Herculiner on the bumpers and rocker panels are part looks, part functionality. I dont know if I 4wheel hard enough to need the herculiner but it looks awesome so why not? The wheels are all looks. I think I might just paint them instead though.

Aloha Corey,
Thank for the tip on the detailing items. Our Toyota's are constantly being exposed to Kaua'is coastal roads and beach sprays.
I contacted Girot's so they'll be sending us more info. Wonderful to be a new member of Yotatech !!

Aloha,
Haupia
