Happy Birthday (to my Truck)

Today marks twenty years of ownership. Back on June 13, 1984, a snot-nosed 20-year old me went in to Douglas Toyota and bought a shiny new Toyota Xtra Cab for $77 down and a total cost of just a hair under $10K. Truck had a mere 7 miles on the odometer and four of that was my test drive It's been a long, sometimes expensive road to where it is now and I have no plans of getting rid of it anytime soon.

Dude that is sweet. How many miles are on it?

I am 17 and my truck got a new motor a month after i bought it. I plan on keeping it forever too.

Don't really know. Within a month of buying the truck, it had 33" tires on it. The odometer has turned slow it's entire life. Then a few months ago, the speedo cable snapped sticking the odometer at 149010.9. True mileage is probably around 180K.

Not many people keep their trucks for that long!

Easy to put in perspective for me, as I was born in 1983. Reminds me how my life is just beginning.

that's awesome, I'd like to keep my truck forever but since it's not an extended cab and I'm 6'2.. might have to get an extended cab. so far this is still my first vehicle....really really don't wanna let it go

Scofco, I was born i 83 also, weird cause I thought you were at least in your 30's

My 4Runner is 21 this year, my dad bought it new in June of 84, and its been in the family ever since. Ever since ive started driving, i began fixing it up and even though its not as nice as some newer trucks, I still love it because there arent many vehicles on the road older than it, especially here in SE Minnesota. Right now its got 229k+ on the odo and running strong.
