OK, I have wondered this since the day I started modifying my 4Runner. Will things for '86 Toyota P/U's work on an '86 4Runner? I mean, I have looked at my buddies and mine, they look IDENTICAL. I am curious for exhaust, intake, etc., etc. Thanks.

 

parts for the 86 fourrunner and pickup are enterchangable.body parts from an 84 to 88fourrunner or truck should be interchangable.suspension wise 86 to 88 is the same .

 

Exactly, they are almost identical. Other than the obvious and keeping track of the minor details. EG. the 4runner gauges have a light that indicates the rear tailgate is unlocked. The trucks have the same socket, but no bulb there. They are otherwise very swappable, go nuts!

 

OK.. so K&N makes a cold air intake for the '88 4Runner, would this work on my '86??

 

That should work. Keep in mind that exhaust lengths differ though...

 

Compair the exhaust for us there seems to be a good supply of exhausts for the pickup but not the 4runner, so please compair them (mainly the exit) is the picup lower or the same level and check the length!!!

The 88 and 89 4runner intakes have a smaller second tube off the plastic intake pipe after the AFM, I think the 88 truck does too, will have to find pics of this difference.
