Got any ideas of what this could be?

I have a 99 Limited 4runner. Have the Amsoil/Deckplate/Dr Z mod. Recently there is an annoying noise when I accelerate, lightly. Its a ticking noise when I press on the gas. If im on it hard or coasting/idiling, I dont hear it. Just when I start to accelerate.

Any ideas?

Any loss of power associated with the ticking?

Have you checked the entire intake track for any "leak" post MAFS?

Mine does a wheezing noise only during acceleration, as if I have a wire looped or something. I've posted this b/f as well as read some other member posting that have similar description. Other suggestions have been belts, alternator or intake. I have yet to solve the problem. Good luck and keep us posted.

I dont think its ping, as ping is present when you really get on the gas. Thats what Im told.

No loss of power. Im not really askin for any power either. Just think of driving around a parking lot, when I accelerate I hear this ticking.

Its almost sounds like a leaf stuck in a vent somewhere. However its not because I dont get the ticking when I coast, just the begining of acceleration.

Have you checked your oil? Could it be valve noise?

A tapping or ticking that comes and goes.

I highly doubt that's what it is, but you might want to check the oil just in case.

Thanks for the quick replys.

I check my oil often. Its not a noise that comes and goes but started about 6 months ago and hasnt gone away. I first noticed it driving around a parking lot lookin for a spot, guess my radio was off. Its gotten kind of annoying.

Ok I noted that the ticking happens in all gears from 1500 to about 2500 rpms. At its peak, rpms is at 2000rpm with ticking fading after that.

Any Ideas? Could it be pinging due to DR Z mod with capped FPR?
