I'd do a 7mge swap into my '93 in a heartbeat if I had the talent, time, a place to work, the tools...
I apparently have the classic piston slap in the '93 I just bought. I was sure it was just a noisy injector. Not the first stupid mistake I made. I don't know what ticks me off more, the fact that I was stupid enough to buy it or the fact that I drove 600 miles round trip to Salt Lake to be stupid enough to buy it :pat:
Wonder if it would be worth flying him out from NZ to do a swap for a Colorado boy

That isn't too far off of what getting a 22re really set up would run and would be plenty more bang for the buck, but I am currently afflicted with the "new parent = cheap ba$tard" disease and question everything that has a $ by it
I cruised around some sites on the net and am seriously amazed at the low prices on the 7mge as far as tired iron Japan motors go.
My '93 has the g58/chain drive combo and even if it did fit in the swap, I don't think I would want it hooked up to that much HP. Sounds like the g58 is the weak sister of the Toyota transmission family.
I think I'm taking my '85 4Runner on a trip to Denver (sister is having heart surgery and somebody over in that area is interested in buying my truck, an odd convergence there) and if I do finally part with it, I'll at least have some toy money to play with.
Any more info would be appreciated.

You could keep the G series, I heard that the G58 is much stronger than the G52, could be as strong as W58.
