Going for 2" Lift using Toytec/Bilstein Coilovers
Hi everyone,
I was told by my shop that my shocks are getting soft on my 1997 4Runner V6. So I started looking into install TRD Bilstein shocks with no lift intended. I run BFG 265/75/R16s on FJ TRD wheels, with no running boards, and get asked if the truck is lifted sometimes, because it already looks that way. But of course I started looking at replacing springs while I am at it, and naturally that snowballed into wondering about going for a mild lift while I am it. That's how these things always happen, right?
So here is my plan, that I am seeking comment towards:
Front: Toytec TCK-4D coilovers struts - Bilstein 5100s with Eibach springs: 1.5 - 3" lift.
Rear: OME 2906, with Toytec 5100 shocks: 0 - 2" or 0 - 2.5" lift, depending on what site you get your info.
I'm going for a 2" lift all around, or perhaps build in a 1/2" rake depending on how it all comes together. Maybe 2.5" all around max. I have read so much stuff on lifting 3rd gens, to the point that I haven't gotten much else done over the past 2 days. Pretty over it! That said, I have not seen very many folks commenting on this particular coilover from Toytec. At $610, it seems pretty reasonable for coilovers. It is cheaper because it does not come with a new top plate and is not preassembled, but neither of those items are a big deal for me. Does anyone here have any experience with this coilover offering from Toytec? Another question: Can anyone enlighten me on the load rate of the Eibach springs of the TCK-4D coilovers? It doesn't say anywhere on the websites of the places that are selling these. I believe they are 600lb springs from a little bit of info I have gathered on some threads. Does anyone have any info on that?
Does anyone have any other comments/suggestions to add about this overall setup? My truck has stock bumpers for now. The most I do to weigh it up is loading all my camping gear in the back, with 2 mountain bikes on a hitch rack, a full tank of gas, cooler, 5-gal of water & the family - me, the wife and the dog!
Thanks for you input folks. I ordered all of these parts today, but if I need to change anything tomorrow, I will probably have time to do so.
