Going looking for pickups

I plan on looking for another 2wd mini pickup truck, a little bit of a fixer upper that I can have and enjoy for a few years.

Does anybody have ideas as to what I should look at on the truck that may be expensive and/or time consuming to fix, and

If you could give me price ranges for trucks in good and rough shape. Please state the currency that your figuers are in.

um, look for
Runs perfectly
Perfect body, no dents
Perfect paint, shiny and fresh
Perfect interior, with comfortable seats
Has no miles on it
Never taken out the garage except on Sundays
Never even been to a state where things rust

That's the goal - you're search results will vary...

As for price - anywhere from $300 to $35,000. That would Amurrican dollars, double it for CDN.

Dude - you have to be more specific. Ya want a dirt cheap beater 'fixer upper' or a one year old creampuff that needs a wax job 'fixer upper?' One mans fun project is another mans run for the hills nightmare POS, ya know what I mean?

I suggest any 2wd 5speed 4 cylinder with fuel injection, prior to the Tacoma model. Most reliable, simple, last for friggin ever if you just change the oil mini trucks ever built. For that matter, since you said 2wd, the same goes for Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and the Ranger too. Avoid the S10.

Got you on the s10 and anything mini that comes from gm, my buddy just went through replacing every bearing that he could think of in the thing.

Just major problems, like the rattle of a timing chain before oil hits it in the morning, and checking under the box liner (if there is one). Just want to know if there are any other little things I should listen/look for.

I do have some idea of the pick-up, I drive one now, I just want one that can be a project while I finish beating the guts out of this one. Not as much fun though, it's not a 5 speed standard.

If I were to get a pickup that was from around my area, right on the ocean, in a place that gets snow and the province uses slat on the roads for the ice. I know I'm gonna have fun with the body, the panels are only flimsy aluminum.

And btw, the Canadian loonie is around $.74 to the amarican dollar, not $.50

Yeah, I know, I just love to kid. I'm still making payments to a Credit Union in Penticton on my F150, I lived in Osoyoos for 4 years.

Panels are flimsy steel, by the way.. I sold my 85 4Runner in BC and nearly had auction for it - it was 15 years old and never had a spec of rust. (obviously didn't come from around there.) I got about double what I could have sold it for here in Oregon even after currency conversion.
