Gobi Ladder Finally Installed!

ok so after waiting almost 2 months and lots of frustration i finally received my ladder yesterday... well got off of work too late so i didnt get to install it til this morning between class and work. This took alot more effort then i thought it would and doing it in the driveway with TX heat is not fun at all!

Looks good! too bad this isn't possible with a 2nd gen 4runner, since we have tail gates. but damn, thats sexy. Why did it take you 2 months to get it...?

i dunno, ask Gobi... they love to take their sweet time getting most of their items to their customers. Another 3rd gen guy just needed one of the brackets and it took him 3 weeks to get that.

Ive seen a 2nd gen with a ladder on it but ya it was on the back left by the back window... let me try to find the pic. Also on the FJ80 landcruisers they have the back hatch like urs and have a ladder on the top half but i think it looks weird personally.

That looks real classy, really adds up to the overall appearance of your nice rig. that Gobi ladder was my first choice along with the OEM spoiler but ended up with the Jaos one instead which I love equally. Too bad I can't integrate that with my spoiler.

I just have never seen the point of ladders... can people really not reach up there? stand on the tires or door kickers?

ocdropzone: ya dude i got on it and climbed up to the top step but didnt go all the way up to the roof rack bc i need to reinforce it before then bc i dont trust the factory rails... ya i still need to get a pic of the back hatch up soon, sry its jsut bc i parked on a slop of the driveway and couldnt get a good shot.

rideexileex: well it makes it much easier to get stuff off the roof rack especially that i want to extend mine to make it full length. When i had stuff up there for trips i had to get on the back bumper or on the rear tire and well it was a pain especially when i had my 33" spare up there... So i mean i think it helps and i also love the look of it.

Just FYI, I get on my roof rack all the time when loading and unloading, i'm a big guy at 230 pounds.

looks great... how does it look with the hatch up?

A version could be done for the 1/2gens with the gate...
It would be in two pieces... a solid attached lower half and a clip in upper half.

WTH is the point in that? Purely it is only cosmetic! Why not just hop on the tire which is the same height as the ladder?
