What's the catch? I've got the tensioner locked w/pin, everything lining up, but can't get the belt around the friggin' crank sprocket...? I saw where others have manipulated the cam sprockets to get the belt marks to line up, but didn't see any issue like this (but then my search skills are quickly goin' to the crapper). From the pics it appears that there is enough slack to facilitate going over the crank...but it just will not go. Could it be that the tensioner isn't compressing enough?

Any ideas??

 

I had the same problem. My solution wasn't exactly the correct way to solve the situation, though...

I loosened the top idler pulley bolt (between the cam sprockets) a few turns. Once the shoulder of the bolt backs out far enough, the pulley can move off center from the bolt (i.e. the pulley can move upwards about 1/4"). I then rotated one of the camshafts (I don't remember which one) to transfer the slack that was created between the cam sprockets to between the cam sprocket and the crank sprocket. This gave enough slack so that the belt was able to be slipped over the crank sprocket. I then tightened the upper idler pulley bolt back down and all was well.

Hope this makes sense.

Well, now I just feel silly. Took your advice, but instead of just loosening the top idler pulley, I completely removed it. Put the TB on, lined everything up, and put the pulley back on. Wasn't even under tension. Too simple actually.
