I was thinking about using some sort of bed liner in place of the old carpet thats in my 3rd Gen. Has anyone done this? Any con's? Insight please!

 

Yeah, me too. My carpet in my 3rd gen gets wet and has a musty smell and I'm tempted on ripping it out and getting new carpet. But a rubber floor would be sweet. Is there anyone that knows a drop in rubber liner that would fit a 3rd gen? My neibor has a Ram 1500 that he put one of thease in and its pretty sweet!

 

Cons : if you plan selling the truck later, have fun.
It would seriously decrease resell value


for the life of god, please do not ruin a 3rd gen by spraying bed liner all on the inside.
get some nice floor mats, the ones in my 99 hold something like a quart of water

 

Yeah, just got some really nice floor mats, that's what I did.

 

I had to redo my interior after I lost to a huge muddy puddle! I did have to replace everything on the floor. I pulled the carpet, took it to the car wash, removed the plugs in the body floor and scrubbed and rinsed it out. Later, I used driz-air to absorb all excess moisture. I chose to sound dampen it for audio and exhaust reasons, but I used grade 8 carpet padding after the sound dampening material and purchased a carpet kit off ebay for like 80 bucks and laid it down myself..pretty simple mod.

If you're gonna keep it, and ford water much heck spray it. But IMHO, find where it leaks and plug that. Husky floormats or catch alls gather water, mud, and what ever debris. Not sure if there are bedliner kits though.

 

Deathcougar bought a 3rd gen that the previous owner did some weird bedliner stuff to the inside; bu thankfully he put it back right and has a beautiful Oak interior once again

 

I would never have that sprayed in bedliner put in. I was just wondering if there was a "drop in" style

the problem is all the wires that run across the floor, you can't exactly just get drop in rubber or anything like that, especially not bedliner because all the electrical components would be exposed, I believe the wiring for the tailights, rear dome light, trailer hitch, all that stuff runs down the driver side floor pan.

 

I used the cheapo rattlecan stuff in mine purely for ease
of cleaning up after a trail ride. Works nice, and even with
no sound deadener, I really can't say I've noticed any
extra noise over the tires and exhaust.

 

yeah man i just did that to my truck spread bed liner in it. it works wonders. its so much easyer to just to wash it out then to sit there and try to get the mud out of the carpet

 

what did you guys do about all the wiring?
