Gentex Mirror installed (pics)

Well, many thanks to Jason B. He posted a link to aftermarket rearview mirrors a while back. I finally got off my ass and got htis puppy installed. Works like a charm.

Easy intall too. Glue button to windshield, route temp probe out to bumper, tap power at the fuse box, ground and mount the mirror. Not much harder than that. I'll post the email I got fromt he guy who sold this to me - he is a stand up guy. The Gentex mirrors were a special purchase and are probably all gone. He can do some great prices on the Donnelly mirrors also.

FYI, the Gentex mirror I got came in a Toyota box. Apparently this unit is an option in the Tundra.

It was getting dark, the pics are so-so (plus the Monty factor)

That freakishly large white object is not part of the mirror. It's my EZ Pass transponder for cruising through toll booths without stopping.

Looks great! Is there a compass in there too, or is it just the temp. gauge?

Temp, Compass and Autodimming.

My JGC has the autodimming mirror also - that's what pushed me over the edge I think.

If you've never driven something with an autodimming mirror, I suggest you try it. Makes driving at night less fatiguing on the eyes.

I've had it for 2 months - and am loving it. It works in PA, NY, NJ, DE - almost the whole northeast.

That's the one thing I miss from my Blazer - it had the built in compass and temp gauge. Now I really want one!

That looks really good. I want to get one so that I can put my CB up where the current map light/garage door opener/sunglasses/microwave/dishwasher thing is in my truck. Turn some useless thing into a useful space! I've seen the mirrors at Performance Products for about $200. Steep, but well worth it.

I have heard problems with the sunvisors hitting the mirror, do you have this problem?

You can still use the sun visors, but you can't fold them flat against the windshield like with the stock mirror. Not an issue for me since I rarely use them anyway. The mirror is a little larger than stock.
