Question General Mods and questions

Hey guys im new here and I've had my 93 4runner for a about 4 months now. The only things that I have done is new 31 inch tires, shocks, and got rid of the chrome trim and running boards. I just had a few questions; For one, can I just get manual locking hubs from a junkyard and go a quick swap from my automatic ones? Also i heard something about getting the torsion bar tightened to get the front end up a little but i'm not sure of the details on that. Finally...(for now) what are these lockers that everyone is talking about? Thats it for now... Thanks Chris

Manual hubs are an easy thing to do, find a local place, get a pair of Aisin Manual Hubs, break them down, regrease them and put em on your rig.

If you are going to do the torsion bar crank I would highly recommend getting the manual hubs first as this relieves a lot of stress on your CV joints when the bars do get cranked.

As for lockers, wait for somebody who knows more about them

EDIT: BY THE WAY NICE AVATAR!!!

What lockers do is this: They positive lock the differentials, meaning that they lock the wheels, whether it be on the front axle or the rear, so that both wheels receive equal power. With an open differential (like what you have now) the wheels are allowed to spin freely thus letting you make turns because the inside wheel is allowed to spin at a faster rate than the outside. In that same situation with a locked differential, the inside wheel would try to spin at the same rate as the outside wheel through the turn thus making the truck hop and skip. The locker is a great addition for off-road use because where and open differential would normally lose traction, because all the power is sent to the free wheel, the locker allows power to be sent to both wheels equally. There are also different types of lockers. Do a search (the flashing green button at the top) on lockers and you will find plenty of info.

Oh and welcome noob

Ya, I'm looking forward to hearing more about them, some personal opinions, install write-ups, etc...
