Which gears to compliment 31-33" tires?

I don't plan on going any bigger than 33's, I have 31's right now and it drives a little sluggish but not bad unless going up big hills. I imagine 33's would make a big difference though. When these tires wear out, I'm either going 32s or 33's depending on bugdet. I'm going to have a simple set up with a 3 inch lift, rear aussie locker, gears, bigger tires. I don't ever really plan on getting bigger tires as the Money/fun ratio goes down significantly. This is a daily driver/weekend warrior with a good bit of hwy usage. I would like to know which gears would give me the best compromise of better pull yet not buzz the hell out of me on the hwy. Also, give some links of where to buy gear sets. Preesh.

I'm happy with my 4.88's, 33's and a 5sp. I have not ran any smaller tires than the 33's with the new gears but I think it would be revving pretty good at highway speeds with smaller tires. You might be okay with 4.56's.

I got 4.88's and 33's in my '86 w/ a 22RE and they're perfect. Used to run 32's and the rpms on the hwy were a tad too high. Also ran the same ratio w/ 31's and it was really peppy around town. Highway rpms were way too high though

depending on transmission type, 4.88 work well with 33's and a stick while 5.29's are for the auto. use the search for 'gearing' or similar and youll find more reading than you have time for!
