Gear shift

I bought a 04 tacoma a lil over a month ago..The other day I was driving it on a bumpy road..I am still use to driving a stick shoft..I had my on the auto gear shift when i hit a bump I noticed that it moved up and down as if the tranny was moving..Is this normal?

Wait until you really pound on it and then realize that the autos like to pop into neautral if you hit a good size bump. At donahoe we used a bungy cord in the stock mini tacoma until we got a gate shifter to keep it in place.
(it scares the hell out of me when the RPMs go to the moon, but once you realize you didn't break anything its a relief!!)
