Gauge light color change

the cluster, turn signals, keyring hole, and a/c panel (not pictured) are led bulbs.
i couldnt find good colored bulbs to use and did not want (also too lazy to) drill and solder in leds. Not as good as wild_bill's blue interior where he wired up several led's but the led bulbs still look great.

I was going to do Wild_Bills version but that's alot of work and time consuming. I would end up driving around with an open dash for weeks.

Many thanks to anybody who does this.

Here's a source: http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm
Pick any bulb and click the Buy It link for a list of all the bulbs, they have most anything imaginable!
Do you really need a writeup on how to change light bulbs?...

I may end up re-doing them with some Blue LED's (got a pack from Ebay for my boost gauge, I did last weekend). If I do I will take mooe pics of the back, but you can get a close idea of how many you would have to replace by counting the number of twisty things on the back of the PIC I posted.
Well hope this helps someone, I know I prefer to know what I am getting into before opening things up. Will also probably do my Climate control in Blue LED's if I pull the dash apart this weekend

Changing gauge lights are easy. I've tried to do the LEDswap and bought lights from superbrightleds.com-failed, LEDs(even inverted ones) dont produce even light pattern to light up the dash, LEDs project lights mostly forward not to the side, mine looked like crap, so I gave up. I'm really interested in pics.

If you wanna do it the real cheapo way(like me) you can just pull out the bulbs and paint them the color you want. I used bad paint, but if you can find a paint the opacity (spelling) then you should be able to get good results. I could post up some pics of mine, but its kinda hard to tell. Also change the bulbs is a peice of cake. Especially after you take it apart so many times you loose all the clips!

simply pulling and painting or replacing with colored bulbs doesn't work well, the light is very dim. I found that out by trying both those methods and ended up going back to stock so I could see the gauges at night. LEDs are brighter. as for the condoms, the blue condoms are going to block more light from the bulb than the green ones so they will also be dimmer.

So can anybody help us 2nd genners out...do our gauges have the condoms on them too??
Thanks!
