Gaskets Needed for Engine Replacement?
Hello all,
I previously posted about replacing the engine on my 1998 Tacoma 4WD 2.7l.
I bought a JDM used motor and am going to transfer over all the components from my old engine. I have made a list of gaskets I will need and am wondering if I have missed anything. Probably did
Exhaust manifold
Air Intake plenum
Water pump
Thermostat
Injectors
Distributor
Valve cover/oil pan - Should I do these if they are not leaking?
Thanks

Toyota and aftermarket companies alike sell a complete Gasket Kit. It contains every gasket you'll need. And yes, I'd replace all the gaskets no matter how good the current ones look...this way you will know every gasket is good.
I just had the motor in my wife's '00 4Runner replaced b/c the stock motor threw a rod. The full gasket kit at the dealer for my 3.4L V6 was $600ish. I picked up an aftermarket gasket kit that came highly recommended locally for $150 out the door.
Last few pgs of my thread will tell what I replaced: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/m...d-pics-185253/
