Don't get me started on F-150s There are a million of them out there-why?
Ford In my opinion, has realized that they cant make sub par cars anymore or else the foreign buisness might severely hurt theres or even put them out of buisness. I think they have really turned around their comapny. One of the biggest reasons i can think of getting an F-150 is for the tons of torque it puts out...plop a supercharger on a 5.4 and viola! 390HP.

So I'm confused??? How big is the tank in the '00 4runner supposed to be?

I have never gotten more than 14.5 gallons in mine, and thats running it until the needle stops moving??? It would be somewhat handy if it actually can go another 60 miles without gas! All these guys keep talking about 18 gallon tanks? What gives? Any ideas?

You need to get the TSB done for the Fuel Sending Unit in the gas tank. I just got mine done courtesy of Jay going to bat for me. Like you, the empty light came on when there was still about 4-5 gallons left in the tank. It is very accurate now.

Thanks Jay!

Hope this helps.

I ran the tank pretty low in the Tacoma the other day and it took over 16 gallons to fill. The fuel light did not come on. The manual says that I have an 18.5 gallon tank.

Well, I went down to the dealer today..and asked them about the gas TSB. Who would'a thought that would make them mad?? The service guy got all up in a rant about it, asking me where I heard about the TSB, and how I knew my truck needed it. After slowly explaining that I could only get 14 gallons in my tank when it showed empty, he just looked at me like, "whats the problem", then explained that they first needed to diagnose the problem before they could get me an appointment to fix it. ?? This seemed a little odd, (since Toyota put out a TSB on it themselves), but I figured fine, they'll probably just fix it then anyways. So I ask how long they need it for..service writer: "all day". This now brings me to "well, you guys do have loaner cars right?", he says sure, $30 a day! :pat: What is that about? Do you guys get loaner cars? I thought any work covered by Toyota, that takes longer than a couple hours would warrant a loaner??

What do you guys think?

I have found that most dealers will only give loaner cars if they keep the vehicle for more than a day. I have had this same experience with Toyota, Chevy, & Mazda. Otherwise it is a rental.
