Fuel Smell.....need Help

OKAY HERES THE SITUATION,
I SMELL GAS ALL UNDER THE HOOD. CANNOT PINPOINT WHERE. HOSES LOOK FINE. NO LEAKS ON THE GROUND. WHILE DRIVING I SMELL GAS COMING OUT OF THE VENTS. TAKES TWO TRIES TO START. FIRST ONE SOUNDS LIKE NO GAS GOING THROUGH. SECOND STARTS NORMAL. I COME OUT THE TRUCK AND MY CLOTHES SMELL LIKE GAS. ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT BE.

FACTS:91 4RUNNER, 112,700 MILES. NEVER CHANGED FUEL FILTER. LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS POSSIBLE FUEL LINE LEAK. i HAVE APPOINTMENT WITH TOYOTA. BUT I KNOW WE HAVE PLENTY OF KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE HERE. PLEASE REPLY. THANKS.

I second the notion. Possibly also a leaky injector. While you're in there, at least have the injectors cleaned, change the PCV valve and the valve cover gaskets (V6). Time for a valve adjustment too? And chnge the fuel filter - it's time.

Talking thnks for the replies

thnks for the responses..Should I go through Toyota dealership service center. Or to a local mechanic that ive been going to for my 100,000 service and other things. I do know one thing it will cost probably much more at the Dealership than local mechanic. question is: Is the quality of the job done worth the extra $$$$$$?

sorry about the CAPS fixation..LOL

IMO...the only reason for ME to go to the dealer is for getting big things done. Like actually replacing big parts...that way I am SURE that they will use Toyota parts. I would just base it on what you are having done. If it was me, for that kind of a problem (leaking hoses possibly) I would just go to the local guy. Then after that if you are still having problems then take it to the dealer and they will most likely find it.

Let us know what happens man!

UPDATE

Looks like its the O-rings. All 12 of them. Inner and outer..according to mechanic. Also the intake chamber gasket.
The total comes out to about $350. I guess thats not too bad. I probably should put some of those high performance fuel injectors while were at it. hehe.
