I recently brought my 4runner in to have work done because my car was hiccupping and shaking when i hit the accellerator. I had posted about this in a different forum. The dealer told me that the plugs were fouled, bad wires, 3rd cylinder was bad, throttle bod had a lot of build up. In addition they also notified me that the fuel filter had been badly damaged and should be replaced. Unfortunately they said it would cost about 175-200 dollars to be replaced. Does anyone here sell good fuel filters at a price lower than what the dealer quoted me? I know the dealer always hikes the price up as much as they can.

 

It would help if you told us what engine you have.

I just replaced my fuel filter about a month ago, bought it from the dealer for like 30 dollars and installed it myself.

 

yeah, i bought a fuel filter from shucks for 15, and the dealer one was like 27.

not hard to do yourself.
