Front License Plate

Was just planning to put an American flag plate on the front of the new 4Runner (2003 SR5, no pics yet, sorry!) when I discovered that the mounting screws are 8-1/4" apart. Standard plate is 7".

It appears that Toyota does this on several models, as I've seen a similar question for a 2001 RAV4. There was mention of a bracket Toyota makes for this application.

Unfortunately, in Arkansas, where we only require one license plate, the dealer does not seem inclined to research to get the part number for the bracket.

Anyone have the part number?

If we can't get it, then it shouldn't be difficult to make one out of some aluminum strips I have.

Thanks!

Kinda reviving an old thread but I've been looking for an answer for this one myself. My 02 4Runner has the same problem (originally from Arizona). Here in Maryland I need both license plates so right now it is jerry-rigged to the factory holes. My local dealer can't (or won't) find a bracket they are just dumbfounded by it and stare at it with blank faces!

Help please!

Why not just drill some new holes in the plate to fit the holes on the 4runner. I don't think anybody would notice a difference, and i seem to remember seeing Novilty plates with oblong holes, It would be a cheap alternative.

I ended up just using a piece of aluminum to create a bracket. It's mounted to the bumper using the existing holes, then it has the holes at normal spacing for the license plate. Here is a link to Toyota's TSB for license plate installation: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/attach...?postid=177571

I seem to recall seeing a part number for a bracket, but can't find it now.

The part #'s for the license plate frame on a 2003 4Runner are as follows:

Black- PTS03000BK

Chrome- PTS030001C

Gold- PTS030001G

I don't know if they also require a bracket.
