So this past weekend I was able to do the rocker panels of my truck with the Durabak to match the hood. I couldn't be happier with how it came out! I think looks awesome and it really ties everything together. Sorry about the pics, they aren't the best but I will try to take some more when the sun and weather decide to cooperate.

Thanks! I have to admit that I was pretty hesitant to do the rocker panels because the Durabak is pretty permanent stuff, but after seeing the results I'm really happy that I was able to pull the trigger!

not a problem! i'm just glad to help. yeah, uh, "photoshop"... more like ms-paint . i always draw out a bunch of ideas before proceeding with a permanent idea.

how is it now with noise levels? does the durabak make more wind noise on the freeway?

As far as noise levels go, I haven't noticed a difference at all...But keep in mind that I have Goodyear MT/R's that are really noisy because of the agressive tread, so I probably wouldn't notice a noise difference anyway.

how much would a scoop really help to cool the motor down?

you would be surprised. while driving, the air under the car is moving, creating low pressure. with the scoop, hot air from the engine compartment is both forced down with the high pressured air coming into the scoop, and also acts to let hot air rise from the compartment while at a stop (chimney effect). also, having cooler air for the intake is good, too. cool air is more dense than hot air, meaning more air molecules per cubic volume. when more air gets into the engine, more fuel can be burned, and more of a bang created. this causes more horsepower. it's also the reason for snorkels and battery/intake swaps

unless you're located somewhere like death valley, no, you really don't need one

Irab88 pretty much hit the nail on the head. I got my sport hood more for looks, because lets face it, they do look awesome! (and the fact that I was able to find mine for a really good deal definitely didn't hurt). I ended up making it functional for the reasons that Irab88 stated above; I have a cold air intake so the functional scoop should help to get cooler air into the engine, and help to keep the engine as a whole a little bit cooler. Since you already have a snorkel (I'm really jealous by the way), a functional scoop really wouldn't do much.
