Flowmaster or Vortex?!

OK guys, I miss the old sound of my 2nd gen...I need to get the exhaust redone on my 3rd gen. I was looking at the Vortex's, I heard them on Jason B's 4runner and it sounds pretty good.

However, I had a Flowmaster 40 on my old 2nd gen and it was pretty nice, it was the most noticeable at about 2k on the tach but it was overall a pretty nice tone.

I have yet to hear any Flowmasters on a 3rd gen and I would like to be able to before I make my decision. So...my question is, Vortex or Flowmaster?

If you don't like one or the other please say why, I may share your same dislike.

Thanks,

Fink

Do you like loud, medium, soft...or what?

If I could go back in time, I would just buy a stinking welder for $200, buy my weapon of choice on ebay, and weld it up. And of course, I would still have a welder to show for it.

Anyway, I say Flowmaster. But I have never heard a Vortex. I like how the 40 sounds...that's my style. Nice and loud. Waking the wifey up on roadtrips is fun!

I like deep and medium loudness, nothing extremely loud cause if I'm rolling in late I don't want anybody to wake up and get pissed off...mainly just a deep but noticable roar would be ideal.

So far we're even! Adam, wheres the best place to order the Vortex I would need?

You can get them from any Meineke muffler shop, or order online here

flowmaster has MANY different models---different sounds and some that make no sound. Check out their site. It is all very detailed and they even have sound clips.

Another choice would be the MAgnaflow as you can get different lenghts for different sounds.

i vote for the Flowmaster since I have never heard a Vortex.
My Borla is BA, but for the $$$ it is not worth it. Unless you can get just the muffler. The new tailpipe is unneccesary IMO and an added expense

this might help ,proves that flowmasters ,,well don't. http://www.svtoa.org/articles_006.htm i wouldn't install a flowmaster on my lawn mower,if your after sound only ,well hop on that train ,i just had a XLerator muffler installed on my 87 turbo ,its straight through like a dynomax ultraflow ,and it was pricey ,but i wanted a new exhaust and didn't want to wait for it to show up in the mail..lol i like it though ,not very loud but a nice tone ,but summit has a good deal on rebates for dynomax mufflers going on now ,so check it out ,,www.summitracing.com

Alright well l'm looking more into the Vortex, the nearest Meineke to me is in Fort Smith which is about 45 minutes away, not too bad of a drive but I've got a new puppy and he won't wanna be in his kennel that long so I think I'll just have it delivered here and then go to my local muffler shop.

I'm looking through the Flowmaster site right now, I wish I could get a sound clip of a Flowmaster on a 5VZ thatd be ideal...anybody have one?!

Thanks for the info so far and all the links, I appreciate it!

If I were to get a Flowmaster I think I'd either have to go with a 40 or 50 series muffler...theres gotta be somebody out there with a 3rd gen and a Flowmaster who has a sound clip!

Thanks again,

Fink

Vortex! I'm also now a dealer for them. Need to add them to the site.

I've had mine on for probably 4 years. I just love it! Sounds/pics on my 4runner site.

I can proudly say that I am the first one to order a Vortex from Jason B., I'll let you all know how I like it when I get it next week.

Thanks again Jason!

Not sure if Jason B. has decided a final price, we worked out a price kind of quickly. I was originally going to get it from www.supremeperformance.com but then JB said he might be able to get it, and me always being a fan of giving somebody that I have know and have used before my business I waited a day and he said he could get it...so he kind of came up with a price, worked it into his site especially for me and we did it like that.

PM Jason B. or IM him online and ask him...hes pretty good about getting back to you.

oh ok, Jason is a great guy bought some lights from him, there was a mix up on on one set and he quickly fixed and offered me a discount on my next purchase. My muffler and ลลลล is all rusted so i need to replace it.
