More chicks! More chicks! More chicks!

Actually I think they do a better job cooling becasue they draw in more air than the stock fan, depending if you set it up to be a pusher or a puller. If i remember correctly it is better to set it up as a puller....also they free up a few HP like you said not being engine driven

Did you know that the more chicks you have in the rig, the better the gas milage?

Back on topic: My girlfriend's dad brought up a down side to electric fans. If your thermostate goes out you could be screwed. With your stock fan you don't have to worry. But if you watch your guages I think you would be fine.

There are several advantages to the electric fan.

1) Little more power and better mileage because you are not turning that 15lb yes 15lb fan and clutch off your engine

2) You don't have to listen to the stock fan scream every single time you start the truck

3) More chicks

4) The truck does seem to cool better in hot weather when moving slowly and it's much more quiet when it comes than when the stock fan engages

5) If your a hardcore wheeler you can wire it to a switch so you can shut it off for deep water crossings

6) It's easier to change your belts if you have to.....okay that's digging pretty deep..haha

Some disadvantages

1) If you have some kind of wire failure you could overheat

And that's about it... .I don't know why you would be screwed if you lose your thermostat because the electric fan uses it's own built in thermostat with a probe that is inserted through the radiator. If your engine get's hot it's going to come on regardless

To give you some perspective on my experience the electric fan only comes on when you've been idling for a while or your in stop and go traffic. During normal cruise it will never run. I have better throttle response a bit more power and I got 30 more miles to my last tank of gas.
