fitting tires..

will i be able to fit some 265 75 16s on my 97 sr5 w/ 16" rims stock? the runner has no lift....but i wont use a 7 or 8 in. rim, but a 10" wide rim to sort of 'stretch" the tire over to get that rounded look, and to make the tires stick out a little. im wondering if ill get soem rubbing issues. i know a lot of people do this tire size with a 2.5 or 3 inch lift to make it look nice, but i dont want a lift yet, just the tires.

if i am understanding what you are saying correctly, you want a 265/75x16 on a 10" wide rim? that will look retarded... as a 265/75/16 is only a 31.6x10.4x16 and that will most likely rub as thats very wide of a rim

You must be setting up your truck to be a street queen. :pat:

I am running 285/75/16s on my stock 16x7 inch steel tacoma rims, aired down to 18lbs offroad they do very well.

You will also find the tire doesn't wear properly and will be easy to pop off the bead - 10" rim is too wide for that tire.

It will look retarded.

If the people around there jump off cliffs, would you do that too?

hiloracer - you are right - you did only ask if they will rub. And we aren't really trying to get in your face, just hoping you'll see the light...

They 'might' rub. The wide rim will make them swing through a greater arc when you turn. But they will 'probably' be okay if the rims have the correct backspacing.

You'll rub like a mother trucker. I put my 265/75R16s on 16x8s on today, and even after sawing off some pieces of running board (the end caps), Im still rubbing.

I have 265/75/16 on a 99 2WD with a slight lift w/ no rubbing issues. But to answer your question, I had 31X10.5X15 prior to the lift with no rubbing. The 265 tire comes out to 31.4 as Jim stated so I don't think you'll have a lot of rubbing. I understand my 16" wheel is bigger than the prior but not much.

You don't have to air them down to lose the bead. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to get a 10 inch wide tire to air up on a 10 inch wide wheel? I hope you know how to mount tires because you would have a hard time finding a shop that would do that for you.

I hate rims that are really wide..I like the tire to bulge over the rim rather than be streched to fit on a huge rim......10.50 on a 6 inch looks awesome, if you can get somebody to mount it, it's not approved, but I've ran 2 sets like that on and off road. Works fine....8 inch wheel is the correct fit, but smaller will work and look awesome.
