First post, couple questions, best forums Ive found so far

So I havent found better Toyota forums as of yet, you guys look like you can hlep me out for sure, but searching hasn't really goten to the nitty gritty stuff I need to know...

1985 Toyota Pickup SR5 Xtra Cab, that's the truck I'm looking to get.

Kelley Blue Book says these are the available engines.

2.4 Liter gas powered 4-cyl
2.4 Liter gas powered turbo 4-cyl

2.4 Liter diesel powered 4-cyl
2.4 Liter diesel powered turbo 4-cyl

However, I know that KBB isn't the most specific site on the net, and I'd like to know if with that particular trim level (SR5) and a 5-speed tranny, with 4 wheel drive, are all those engines still available?

KBB says the only option available is an AM/FM Stereo, it doesn't even say it has power steering, with the kind of off-roading I do, power steering is a must.

Also, I'm very much in the dark about what exactly the TRD means for Toyota trucks, but I'm assuming that a TRD package isnt available for this model year. Just thought I'd ask though.

the truck in question has a gas 2.4l 4cylinder (might have a turbo?)

i have seen power steering in some of the toyta trucks.. but those were the extended cab high end models with a turbo (might be otehrs too, but i havent seen it.. the turbo i believe only came in the 4x2 versions, and i have only seen them in an extended cab sr5 version)

trd means that it has a factory limited slip or a factory electronic locker and did not come out until the late 90s as far as the trd package is concerned... they do makea trd upgraded camshaft for your truck though

There are 4x4 turbo models out there, extended cab for sure, not sure about reg cab. There was someone in WA who had a turbo 4x4 ex cab that was otherwise a base model, ie. no AC, power windows, etc.

I have an 85 Xcab.
They are avalible with power steering. I am pretty darn sure only the gas engines are avalible in the states.
I have only seen a hand full of turbo engines - but they where all swaps AFAIK

There wasnt a TRD package, but you can get TRD cam and Header for them. I have the cam now, and hope to do the header soon.

Thanks for the replies guys

Extended Cab
Solid Front Axle
5-speed manual
4-wheel drive
Power Steering
Fuel Injection

Those are absolute neccessities for my next truck (ive had one Toyota already, and a Nissan equivalent)

The engine was no big deal, but i figure ill get the best i can get, so i needed to know the options...ive seen a turbo Yoyo (my nickname for the Toy Pickup) in a regualr cab version, im glad to hear that they are available for extended cab too...

now that this problem has been sorted out, of course another one arises...who the ˟˟˟˟˟˟! makes a push bar for an '85...i really dont want to modify one for an '89...thats the earlist push bar for the Pickup I've found...sheesh!

yeah, i just found some reading that says it came as an option, didnt say it was the only means of engine lifeblood...

also found some reading that says the SR5 extended cab has automatic locking hubs...i definately dont want that...haha, one thing after another, gotta love it

EDIT: more reading has pretty much assured me that '86 was first year for the turbo (to compete with Nissan's V6 apparently)
