fin antennas

is it possible to put a fin antenna on a 4runner, if it is where could i get one and how hard would it be to put on the 4runner

I think that the shark fin antennas you see an bmws and the like are gps antennas for sat nav.

yeah the bmw ones are for: navigation, bmw assist, sat radio, cell phone.
iirc the radio antenna is bult into the a-pillar or in the windshield. I havent looked in a while at that stuff though.

I have always wondered about the fin antennas. I always thought that if you put one on the stock location of the 4Runner that you'd get bad reception since it's not the highest spot on the vehicle. I have never thought about BMW antennas being for nav/sat/assist only and that there is actually another hidden antenna. But on second thought, it makes a lot of sense.

On our BMW the radio antenna is in the back glass. Not sure on the new e90.

oh, yeah it is there too, i was thinking of the 6 series. (i get confused sometimes being around them every day...)
