Ive got a 85runner and the fan is always running , so I need to replace the fan clutch but dont know much about them and have never none this before so I would like to gain a little knowledge from any one who has done it before , or has some knowledge about this kind of stuff thanx alot !

 

Well, it should always be turning, but not necessaraly locked up.

Turn the engine off and turn the fan by hand. You should be able to move it with a little bit of drag.

Then let the engine idle for a while. At some time the fan clutch should lock up and the fan should turn faster and if you rev the engine when this happend you should notice it moving a ton more air then when it is not locked up.

Another alternative, if you indeed have a bad fan clutch, is to install a taurus fan. Do a search for "taurus fan install" Its a $30-60 flex-a-lite like mod, just takes some junkyard scrounging and wiring.
