Factory Fender Flare Trim Mod
I have just finished a write-up about putting TRD Tacoma fender flare trim on my 4Runner Highlander. This should help with the scratching of the body that occurs with the 1996-1999 factory 4Runner flares and should prevent rust from forming years down the road. It also gives it a clean factory look.
The write-up is on my "Additions 2" page. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Very nice Jalaber
I did not realize the SR5/High Lander type flares did not have the gasket like my Bushies do.
When I took off the factory chrome/rubber trim, it too had cut lines into my clear coat. Not even my infamous Porter Cable could fix that kind of damage.
The flares I have now of course cover up all the damage from the old trim.
But yes, the trim you now have looks great.
Nice write-up indeed.
I want to eventualy setup a tech section on the server here for articles and all, and yours would be a great one to help others out.
We'll be going through a lot of changes here on the forum. We have only been officialy open since Wednesday.

Quite an excellent modification for the Flares. I took mine off last month while I playing around with the power antena. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt built up and the amount of paint rubbed off from the flares.
Hats off to you Jalaber.
What was the price for the rubber seals?

Hey where you from in NY, I spent most of my life in upstate NY so I'm familiar with the area. Talk about a rust belt, salt, cinders and snow, what better combo for rust. NY has it all LOL Don’t miss that for a second.
