Engine Warning Light

Engine Warning Light
Hi folks,
My engine warning light just came on (and stayed on) today. I'm not sure where to start looking to troubleshoot the problem although it could be the alternator as the voltage meter was fluctuating between about 14v - 18v quite rapidly. I thought I was in a recording studio.
The engine sounds good, idles well and starts great.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I don't want to overlook something relatively simple and have to go to the mechanic.
Thanks in advance.

Warren I've seen this happen before and talked about in posts. From everything I have heard it's usually a sensor that causes that such as the mass airflow sensor or a few others. Sounds like in your case though it may be related to your whacked out voltage.. Hope you can get if fixed without it costing ya fortune.. Let us know

re: warning light
Thanks for the tip. I read elsewhere to try re-setting the ECU, check the O2 sensor connectors, ensure the gas cap is tight etc...
I'll check all this stuff and report back.

I pulled the EFI fuse for a few minutes, fired her up and the Engine Warning Light has stayed away for about 100 kms.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the suggestions.
